Description: Front: Script along bottom of postcard reads, Winona Lake, Ind. Left sign reads, This Stone Lion was Procured in the Walled City of Peking China in 1902. Right sign reads, Stone Lion from Buddhist Temple Peking China, Destroyed in Boxer Uprising, Procured by H. J. Heinz 1902.Back: Body of message reads, Dear Eva, Filling up in the [...] at Winona. Mrs. Hall by my side. Mrs. Sallzgaber over at her room lying down. I am here to tell you and hell wish you was here with me. [...] all well at home. Mrs. Hall said when you come home you would be [... ...] Brown, we send love Mother. Kiss from us all this is a beautiful place [...] and Miss Elcock [...] us big crowd [...] Eva. To my letter known baby away up in Col [...] with Dr. Alice Wilrano. Addressed to, Miss M. Eva Hints, Montrose, Colorado, c/o Eugene Rence.
The Stone Lion that H. J. Heinz brought from China is seen here. The Venus de Milo replica can be seen in the backgroud to the left. Heinz later removed the Stone Lion, because people claimed it was too Buddist like, and took it to the Pittsburgh area. Heinz acquired the public art, that ended up in Winona Lake, while on his world wide trips.
