Rates are on the Interurban 35 cents from Milford to Winona this week - Hope you will be able to come. We came down last night. John was here - - I am going uptown for grub - Clara - Addressed to, Mrs. E. Blackman, Ligonier, Ind. R.F.D.4. The writer rode the Winona Interurban from Milford, Indiana to Winona Lake for $.35.Mount Memorial, named in honor of Indiana Governor James Mount (1843-1901), was completed around 1904. The construction costs were listed at $80,000 in one source and $130,000 in other. The 66 x 180 foot structure is faced with cream colored brick and trimmed with Bedford, Indiana limestone. It was originally built to house the Winona College of Agriculture during the school year and the Winona Assembly Summer School. The colleges closed in 1917. During World War I the building was used by Camp Winona, a military training base. In 1933 the Free Methodist purchased the building for $22,500 and then moved their denominational headquarters from Chicago. In the early 1990’s the Free Methodist moved their operations to Indianapolis. The building was renovated by Winona Restoration and then sold to Grace College.
