Description: Front: Script along bottom of postcard reads, Auditorium among the Trees, Winona Lake, Ind.Back: Body of message reads, Sat. Morning, Dear Mary, Wish you were here to go swimming and play around here with me. I have a small room all alone last night, I got a beach ball and sure tried hard to swim yesterday. Thanks for the nice time we had when we were at Le Grange. Love - Alice Marie Nessbaum. Addressed to, Mary Sue Case c/o R. L. Case La Grange, Ind.
The writer, in 1949, says she purchased a beach ball and went swimming with it. No doubt this was an inflatable beach ball. This plastic toy first appeared on the scene in 1938 and is ranked as the 11th greatest toy invention. Many people took advantage of a beach balls buoyancy to keep them afloat as they enjoyed the water.
