Dear Bertha, Here we are and looking forward to a lot of good things this week. Heard some wonderful speakers yesterday. Such a big crowd here. Win and the boys are going fishing today. It has been so cool, Ive had my coat on all the time. It is warming up this P.M. tho. Am going in now to listen to Rodeheavers sound of music, Love, Herma. Addressed to, Mrs. Grouer Smith, W. Kickapoo St., Hartford City, Indiana. The writer relates that there are big crowds and wonderful speakers at Winona Lake. World War II had ended and America was trying to get back to normal.This area was the business district of Winona Lake. This 1940s vintage photograph shows the eatry, the Eskimo Inn, and the Souvenir Shop. Other businesses were known to include the post office, a bookstore, a photographer and other businesses. This is Park Ave. looking north towards the Winona Hotel. The Billy Sunday Tabernacle would have been on the right. The restrooms for the Tabernacle and the Hillside were located behind the store fronts. |
