Renovation work inside Clowes Memorial Hall

Description: Designed by architects Evans Woollen III and John M. Johansen, construction of Clowes Memorial Hall began on August 15, 1960, and the building opened in October 1963. This photograph likely shows renovation work on the building, which occurred in the early 1980s. According to the Winter 1985 issue of The Butler University Quarterly, Work continues on the renovation of Clowes Memorial Hall including new paint throughout, 11 tons of carpet specially woven in England, and new upholstery for all 2,182 seats. More than $700,000 has been invested in the renovation since January 1981 (p. 2).
