During the ’51 season Wininger set a newschool record of 4:44.6 in the mile and Robinson set new records of : 53.1 in the quarter and2:03.0 in the half mile.Bolstering the returning lettermen are a hostof new comers including last year’s freshmanhalf-mile relay team which won trophies atLinton and Washington. Only a few of the returning boys have had actualcompetition. The season opened with Linton on April 9 andwas followed by meets with Bloomington, Sullivan, April 17;Gerstmeyer, April 19; Columbus, Martinsville, April 24;Washington, April 26; Garfield, May 1; Bedford, May 8;Crawfordsville, May 15; and the sectional on May 17.
