Lots of social functions—lotsof fun at U. IL S.OCTOBER8 G. A. A. invited the Bloomington High G. A. A.to a picnic at Cascades. An opportunity to become better acquainted with the B. H. S. girls.16 First JORDANNUS meeting. We got togetherto decide on the theme and cover for the “better than ever” JORDANNUS.18 The “Fall Hop” sponsored by the junior classwas really in the groove.24-25 Yahoo! Vacation — State Teachers Association met in Indianapolis.NOVEMBER8 Basketball season again! The Stinesville gymwas filled to the rafters with U. H. S. rooters.Even though we lost, our team looked promising.19 Cast for the senior play “January Thaw” waschosen. Gee, the seniors didn’t know they hadso many talented actors and actresses.22 First home game—U. H. S. vs. Burris of Muncie. Senior class sponsored a dance after thegame. U. H. S. was hostess to the Muncie teamfor a steak dinner after the game.25 Many kids got their grades cut three per centfor going to hear Hoagy Carmicheal. It wasworth it!!26 A heated ball game with Elletsville. Well, wealmost won!28-29 Thanksgiving Vacation. The sale of BromoSeltzer soared.DECEMBER5-6 JORD ANNUS skits. Ho! Ho! Ho! Need we saymore?? The students thought they were funnyanyway, Phil.10-11 All the work of the senior play cast was wellworth it. Uncle Walter, Jonathan, and Mathilda kept the audience “rollin’ in the aisles.”12 Breakfast at Betsy Martin’s for the senior playcast. Never saw two people that could eat asmuch as Dixon Hughes and Bill Jacobson.13 At our ball games with Mitchell the U. H. S.spectators were kept busy “shoveling’ at thedecisions of the referees.20 Santa Claus visited U. H. S. during the Christmas Party. With the Yuletide spirit in the airand snow on the ground—Christmas vacationbegan.21 Mr. Gross throws aside bachelorhood.23 Many of the kids donned their formal attireand off they went to the Christmas formal.31 New Year’s Eve. Everyone was in a hilariousmood as we welcomed in the new year.JANUARY1 New Year Tourney at Mitchell. We beat Salemin the consolation game, 40-38. With 20 seconds to play and Salem ahead 38-36, Wells hita long shot and a split second later Beatty stolethe ball and shot the victorious basket. Exciting, huh! !6 Oh, golly! How we hated to return to the oldgrind of school.14 G. A. A. Bowling Party. Donna, the object ofthe game was to throw the ball down the alleyand not to go with it.17 The fateful day arrived—U. H. S. vs. B. H. S.The law of averages won out—we lost.20 Final week — burning the midnight oil andcramming!!23 School dismissed at noon. Another semester ofhigh school behind us.24 U. II. S. vs. Mooresville basketball game. Theboys were really on the ball—we won!!FEBRUARY7 U. H. S. tromped over Ellettsville, 31-27. Whata ball game! Huge crowd at the senior danceafterwards.22 Columbus invaded us. We really had themscared the first half.27-30 Sectionals. We plowed Smithville under witha 69-44 score. Max Headley just couldn’t miss.Then came Ellettsville! They breezed throughthe sectionals like a grass fire.MARCH14 An unexpected vacation. Are we complaining?? Critic teachers off to Terre Haute.17 Surley ’t is the wearin’ of the green. St. Patricks Day. The school was a mass of green.18 A super QUAD of 52 pages was distributed.20 Miss Spear and five of the JORDANNUS stafftook the JORDANNUS to the printers. They’llnever tell their adventures!!21 Snowing on the first day of spring. JUNIORPENNY CARNIVAL. Congratulations to thejuniors. It was a great carnival.28 Senior Pie Supper. The pies were really goodwhile they lasted. Could the seniors have madethem!!!29 The sophomores and their guests went on askating party. Lots of fun and no bonesbroken!APRIL4-7 Easter Vacation. U. H. S. was well representedin the Easter Parade.18 Drama Night. A new playwright, Mary LouWinter, was discovered at U. H. S. Her playwas a great success!25 At last the Blue Tri came through. Their dancewas a success.MAY9 Amid soft music, dim lights, and beautifuldecorations, the juniors and seniors dancedinto the wee hours of the morn.15-16 “Charge!!” Arsenic and Old Lace.23 Class day. The seniors started to realize thatthey would soon leave dear ole’ U. H. S.28 Senior Picnic!! Censored!!29 As the seniors received their diplomas, theywere happy but sad.Page thirty-one |
