Description: \\Y* uWendell W. W right. Dean of the School of Education,was born in Greencastle, Indiana. He received his A. B. degree from Indiana State Teachers College at Terre Haute,and his Ph. D. from Teachers College, Columbia University,in 1929. Dean Wright began his teaching in a small ruralschool, after which he served in the United States Armyduring 1918. He next worked at Arsenal Technical HighSchool in Indianapolis as a teacher and research worker.The following year, Dean Wright came to Indiana Universityas a professor. Since then, he has served Indiana Universityas Dean of the Junior Division and Director of the Office ofVeteran Affairs. When H. L. Smith retired last year as Deanof the School of Education, Mr. Wright assumed this position. The students of University School respect and admireMr. Wright for his interest and cooperation in making yourschool and mine one to which we can give the utmost allegiance.Mr. Otto Hughes received his A. B. degree from FranklinCollege in 1928 and his A. M. degree from Indiana Universityin 1930. His first teaching position was in a one-roomschool, and this was followed by the position of elementaryprincipal in Clay Township. Mr. Hughes next taught atBoggstown High School for one and a half years, movingthen to Columbus High School in Columbus, Indiana, wherehe taught social studies for ten years. In the same city, heassumed the duties of principal. Not long afterward, he became superintendent of schools in Columbus. In the fall of1945, Mr. Hughes came to the University School as assistantprincipal. This year, in the position of principal, Mr. Hugheshas made for himself a place in the hearts of the studentbody and faculty.IJPage sixteen
