Description: U-SCHOOL AND MEMORIESWith the flashing of senior cords and headstilted a degree higher than ever before, we stepped into our new roles of sophisticated seniors.” We made elaborate plans for the year andthen watched them unfold. Our class officers assumed their duties. Dances were planned after each home football andbasketball game. Positions were assigned for theyearbook staff and work on the Jordannus began in earnest. To promote the sale of our yearbook we planned the Jordannus Skits for a convocation program.Seventeenth Summer,” our senior play, waspresented in December. As the final curtainclosed, we knew that there was a lot of hithertoundiscovered talent in our class.Blue and white robes were chosen for ourgraduation. During the second semester we ordered graduation announcements, name cards, and robes in preparation for the long awaitedday of commencement. As we realized that the last days of our highschool career were coming to a close, we beganto reminisce. When we entered high school as freshmen, our first job was to choose from the wide variety of courses which would best suit our needs.Miss Virginia Kruse, Mr. Frank Smith, and Mr.A. Pryce Noe were chosen as our class sponsorsand they ably guided us throughout our highschool career. The Freshman Frolic” was the first dancethat we sponsored during the beginning of ourhigh school venture. A picnic at Spring MillState Park began a tradition which was followed up to our senior year. By the end of theyear, we found ourselves well acquainted andlooking forward to more fun and good timestogether. When we were sophomores, the foundationfor our class organization was laid by the Sophomore Council. This council consisted of tenmembers who planned our major activities, which were a dance a semester and a class picnic. At the beginning of the junior year, our firstofficial class officers were elected and activitiesbegan. A picnic, Junior Joe Day, and severaldances were held. For Christmas presents wereceived our class rings. Perhaps the highlightof the year was the Junior Penny Carnival, based on the theme of The Circus.” Amongmany outstanding features of our carnival wasa stage show musical review and the royal coronation of the King and Queen. When the spring of our senior year came, weappeared dressed in outlandish costumes forTramp Day. Then the juniors gave us the traditional banquet and Junior-Senior Prom of 1951.Our baccalaureate was a combined programwith Bloomington High School. And then May 2 5 came with a mixture ofgay and pathos memories. We marched downthe aisle as a class for the last time. Some willcontinue in academic pursuits and others inchosen occupations. There is so much ahead that the feeling isoverpowering. May we be worthy of the lessons learned at our alma mater. Our class sponsors during the four highschool years were Mr. Frank Smith, MissVirginia Kruse, and Mr. A. Pryce Noe.
