Description: |
each in his own way-NXOWow, it was quite a year; it was a year for testingtheories. Someone once said, “Work and play don’tmix,” and they proved him wrong. Out of the SeniorClass came three National Merit Semi-Finalists: EllenSpencer, Lynn Householder, and Ruth Beharriell, andthere were also six letters of commendation awarded toKaren McIntosh, Alan Irwin, Lee Ballinger, David Alley, Mike Carpenter, and Mike Kemp. A Senior memberof the band, Bill Bumam, competed the guest soloistmember of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra underIzler Solomon. Their dances were the best and no onecould have had a better prom—at least they thought so,and that’s all that really mattered. This year the Seniorsdeveloped a theory of their own which could be expressed in one word: Spirit! It was also a year for laughter and for tears. Whocould forget “Bye Bye Birdie”—perhaps the biggestsuccess U-School ever had or ever will experience! Andtheir cords—only they could have the privilege of wearing them. Then there was Homecoming! They madeashes out of the Lancers all right, but the juniors madeashes out of them. It was a heartbreak to more thanone person to lose, but they were still unified as oneand felt as one.MlYes, the Senior stage crew added much to the back-stageactivities during play productions. Much what??Senior Class officers David Hagen, pres.; Bruce Shaffer,vice-pres., Susan Byrnes, sec., and Sheila Bemis, treas.seem to have come up with a pretty good idea for SeniorWeek!76 |
