Their lone victory was a 61 to 34 decision over Franklin, while the Univees were defeated twice by Speedway, andonce by New Albany, Culver, Southport, and eventual statechampion, Columbus.Despite their dual meet record, the Univees placed eighth ina field of forty in the state meet on the strength of the performances of junior Ricky Darby, and senior Chuck Faris.Darby finished second in the 200 yard medley, his only defeatin that event during the season, and fourth in the 100 yardbackstroke. Faris placed fourth in the diving competition,adding valuable points to the Univee total. With the returnof Darby and other experienced underclassmen, next year’s outlook is much brighter for the tankmen.66 |
