Off-and-on-games, overtimesPlague eagers. Coach ai Gallo’s1958-59 basketball squad posted what appearsto be a dismal 4-15 mark, dropping two doubleovertimes, a single overtime, and four othergames by five or less points. The starting fiveconsisted of seniors, Tom Black, Jack Clark, BillBrummett, Dave Rich, and Stan Wilson. Black’s31-point performance paced the U-Schoolersto their first win of the year over L & M. Inthe double-overtime loss to Ellettsville in sectional play, Clark tallied 19 points. Bill Brummett was a tower of strength on the backboards,averaging about fifteen rebounds a game. Asfloor general, Dave Rich scored 22 points as theUnivees routed Gosport 84-56, breaking a Uni-vee field goal record. Guard Stan Wilson addedpunch to the line-up by scoring 18 pointsagainst Ellettsville. The reserve squad rolledup a fine 13-4 record under the coaching ofWalter Gray. Gray’s Freshmen compiled a fine7-1 mark. The first year men beat Bloomington, Spencer, and Smithville twice, and Unionville once.
