Buntin, JohnAuer, Bernie Brown, Phil Wycliff.To increase student interest, the MYC completely revised itself this year. Two membersfrom each social studies class at both U-Schooland BHS were elected as1 representatives comprising a total membership of seventy students.All the members were divided into two parties,called the Tri-P and the Tri-C. The only timethe two parties meet is when a resolution ispresented for a vote. This year’s officers wereDick Wampler, president; Karlene Schneibner,secretary; Janet Wampler, treasurer, all fromBHS; and U-Schooler Alison Householder, vice-president. Meetings were planned around variousphases of city government and politics. MayorLemon gave several talks to the group and thewhole council visited the City Hall where theywere shown, among other things, the conditionsunder which the police department is forced tooperate. Nancy Young was chosen to serve onthe Beautification and Sanitation Committee.A banquet was given in the spring honoringthe outstanding youth of Bloomington. TheMYC helped take part in a drive to promoteinterest in a first aid class. The annual MYCdriver of the semester contest was held in thespring. Miss Adeline Bringle from BHS and Mr.Robert Pettijohn from U-School were the cosponsors1.49
