Description: THE PEOPLE OF OUR YEARCommencement, 1943, marked the last meeting of the Senior Class. Although the entire class may never come together again, the spirit whichhas made it one of the strongest yet to graduate from The University Schoolwill continue to exist. The bonds of deep friendship and the firm ties ofclass unity will endure—intangible evidences of our loyalty to each other, and to our school. We have helped to establish traditions which futurestudents will honor and love. We shall cherish together the memories ofour school years. As a class, we have worked and studied together, andlaughed and played together. Many are the activities which we haveshared. We have learned together in the classrooms; we have presented plays together; we have danced and sung together; we have cheered ourteams, have sorrowed in defeat, and have rejoiced together in victory Wehave fostered our democratic, freedom-loving ideals together. We havesought the truth, and shunned falseness and insincerity. We have pursuedjustice, and hated tyranny. We have tried to perpetuate those conceptionsof liberty and equality which exemplify the spirit of our country. We haveachieved knowledge and wisdom under the guidance of our teachers, andhave given them in turn the impractical enthusiasm of our youth. We leaveThe University School now, confident that we have helped, with our youngaspirations and ideals, to make it strong. Truly has the Class of 1943 beena unified one. That the classes of future years will follow our precedent ofoneness and cooperation, is the wish of the people of our year—1943.Page seven
