Description: BANDSAs in preceding years, instrumental music was studied byboth a Senior and a Junior Band. Senior Band had a daily classperiod. Junior Band met three times a week the first semesterand twice a week the second semester.Junior Band played for Convocation, Farmer’s Institute,one ball game, and for Baccalaureate.Senior Band appeared at all of the home basketball games,at Farmer’s Institute, at Baccalaureate and Commencement.On April 5, the Senior Band played several numbers at theTri-County Music Festival at Ellettsville.This year, music in the three lower grades included practiceon rhythmic instruments for the first time. In January, 1946,instruments were bought. Included were rhythm sticks, jinglesticks, castanets, triangles and a tambourine. Each of the twenty-five children in the band is taught to express himself by keepingtime with musicl The band made its first public appearance in thespring of ’46.HOME ECONOMICS CLUBOn October 1, 1945 the girls of the home economicsclasses organized a Home Economics Club, “The Future Homemakers of America.’’ The aims and objectives of this club are:find needs of girls of Unionville High, build up an interest inour home economics department, improve the community, andprovide entertainment during the noon hour for the entire school.The officers elected were: President, Betty Wampler;
