Unionville High School, The Graphic, 1946, Page 27

Description: Next I see a woman, a little more than five feet tall, with brown hair and greyeyes, walking down walnut Street in Bloomington. Indiana. She is leading a smallboy, who looks quite like her. Why it is the former Virginia Young! Of all the surprises, this is the best. Here I see a beautiful playground equipped with all the most desirable amusement devices. There are many cnildren, large and small, scattered over it. Inone corner near the school building I see four people who seem to be teachers. They are in a regular huddle and must be talking of the latest escapade of littleJohnny. It seems to have been an amusing one. Here comes a little girl who issobbing as though her heart would break. She goes to Nellie Young, who brushesher off a little bit, tells her she isn’t hurt, and off she goes again, happy as a lark. The teachers again go into a huddle over a deep, dark secret but not for long!Lucille Powers has to go sew up a tear in the seat of little Jimmie’s pants. Isn’tthat too bad? He tore it on the new slic^e just that day set up. Again the remainingteachers go into a huddle. This time it is interrupted by three children, one ofwhom has skinned his knee. Being one of Iona Long’s charges, she has to take himto the office for repairs. There are now only two teachers left so it is hard to huddle, but even this small group must be broken up. This time it is decided thatHelen Hammond must go borrow the famous board of education for a little operationon that poor little misunderstood Mary. At any rate the life of a teacher surelycan’t be dull. How nice to have seen once again all the students and teachers of UnionvilleH. S.!
