H. S.Rah, Rah, Rah SENIOR HISTORYThe whistle blew and a squad of thirty-seven seventh graders bravelyrushed onto the field of Unionville High School to combat their opponent “Education”for the first of a six game series. During the first year we lost nine of ourclassmates. In the second game in this scries, we were found to have a force ofthirty-one strong. New to our team was Vernon Richardson, Dewey Criswell,William Crites, Alma McCoy, and Betty Stephens. When the team was advanced to the varsity squad, or its first year ofhigh school, it had decreased to twenty-seven. New on the line-up was VirginiaMacy, James Nickless, and Doris Headley. We had a very successful school yearwith only three leaving us. They were Flossie Fishel, James Nickless and VirginiaMacy. This made a squad of twenty-four tenth graders ready and willing to give andtake. Enrolling new at the beginning of the year was Mildred Hendricks. Laterthe same year we lost this player (Mildred) by death. Also leaving is this yearwere Freda Baker, Pansy Baugh and Russell Droll. In our Junior line-up there were twenty-one. A new starter on o ir squadwas Jeanne Frye. This was the year our bad luck came. Leaving us duringthe year were Hazel Bock, William PoJey, Charles Nicholas and Doris Skirvin.William Crites also left us; he is now in the service.During the summer between our Junior and Senior year, our bad luck did notlet up. Two of our line-up, Anna Marie Droll and Roxie Cummings, went to summer school and didn’t come back to U. H. S. Vernon Richardson joined theNavy during the first month of school leaving a badly scored line-up of thirteen. This did not worry us because we still have thirteen proud Seniors winning in thelast game in the series of “Education” played at good old U. H. S.
