Description: j 111THE TOY BArTDThis year Stinesville enjoyed one of the most unusual musical organizations to be found in any schoolsystem. This was our Toy Band, which was organized inNovember by Miss MacMorran and Miss Kennedy from children of first and second grades. The band consisted oftwenty six-instruments, including two tambourines,four clogs, two bells, two cymbals, three triangles,one wood block, one tone block, one drum, and ten sticks.Band suits consisted of white trousers trimmed inred, white blouses, red and whito capes and caps. Theseoutfits were made by ladies of our community who offered their assistance. These suits certainly gave theband a military atmosphere.The band made its debut at our Xmas program, givinga musical skit, Xmas Eve in the Play Room. They alsoperformed at the Gosport And Ellettsvillo basketballgames, giving imitation formations performedby collegebands, The Toy Band formed the following formations:EHS, SHS, HI. Musical selections included: Its aShanty in Old Shanty Town, Rock abye Moon, When itsSpringtime in the Rockies, March from the NutcrackersSuite7 by Tchaikovsky, and waltz from Poet and Peasant.The band will make its last appearance at the PhysicalEducation Exhibit by request of those who have failed tosee it perform.One of the finest compliments paid to the work ofMiss MacMorran and Miss Kennedy was given by Mr. WilliamNeu, instructor in elementary physical education in theIndianapolis schools. Mr. Neu said, It is one of thefinest pieces of work of its kind that I have seen inany school.M
