(?la55 UlltotyIn the fall of 1943, 36 bright-eyed, shiny-faced, little tots entered the Stinesville Schoolwith Mrs. Burnett as their teacher. Those who started out in the first grade were: Delano Accuff,Franklin Anderson, Lynn Arnett, Joe Baker, Wanda Brown, Freddie Davis, Perry Elkins, BarbaraEllett, Nancy Ellett, Phyllis Frye, Jeanette Goble, Sharon Hahn, Hilda Headdy, Bonnie Hughes,Tommy Kiser, Sharon Lawrence, Bonnie Lawrence, Gene Livingston, Herbert Nanny, PhyllisMay, Ronald Michael, Allen Nicholson, Jim Prather, Melvin Pruett, Faye Peterson, Jesse Pursell,Nadine Smith, Jean Smith, Maurice Stivers, Sue Summitt, Pat Taylor, Loren Valentine, RitaWaskom, Leon Walbring, Linda Wilhite, and Raymond Wylie.We started back to school after a long vacation. We had all enjoyed our vacation and we wereall very glad to see each other and talk about our new dolls and trains . Miss Miller had to putup with a lot, quiet us down, tie our shoe strings, and braid our hair. We all enjoyed that yearvery much.We started the third grade with 30 children. Mrs. Worman was our teacher. We all rememberthat year—the year Linda Wilhite was taken to the hospital with polio. She recovered fully andreturned to us full of life and fun.Our fourth year in school, we had Mr. Childers for our teacher. There were 31 of us whostrived for 100 in spelling every week, our reward was to see Mr. Childers stand on his head.After a long vacation, we started back to school for the fifth year with Mr. Dillon as ourteacher. We enjoyed that year because every Friday we would have a talent program. Eveyonesang, told a joke, or danced. Jack Bowman entered that year.Our next year went by swiftly and we all were feeling very old by that time since we wereready to start in junior high school. Mrs. May was our teacher that year. She was ready to helpus whenever we needed help.We entered junior high school feeling like ladies and gentlemen. We chose Miss Denny, whois now Mrs. Franklin, as our sponsor. Charles Cooter and David Hough entered that year.In the eighth grade we chose Mrs. Thompson as our sponsor. We enjoyed that year. Mrs.Thompson had a party at her house for our cl/iss.The next year we started in high school. Miss Brown was our class sponsor. In our sophomoreyear we chose Mr. Pogue as our sponsor. We had a potluck at the park in the spring and everyoneenjoyed it. We sold candy that year to make money. We enjoyed our junior year because of ourJunior Carnival and our class play, The Bargain Bride. Through many troubled nights and playpractices we finally decided upon April 13 to give our play. It turned out to be a success. Duringthe latter part of the year we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters play the All Americans at theColiseum in Indianapolis. We chose Mr. Carl Riddle as our sponsor and we all enjoyed that yearvery much.In 1954 we entered our senior year with Mr. Carl Floyd as our sponsor. We were guided byFaye Peterson, president; Linda Wilhite, vice-president; Jeanette Goble, secretary; Jack Bowman,treasurer. After ordering the name cards and invitations and having our senior pictures taken wesettled down to work on our annual. There are only 17 of us left to graduate. They include: LynnArnett, Jack Bowman, Charles Cooter, Jim Carter, Nancy Ellett, Jeanette Goble, Hilda Headdy,Dave Hough, Bonnie Hough, Donna Mitchell, Faye Peterson, Jim Prather, John Stewart, NadineSmith, Sheila Taylor, Frances Vail, and Linda Wilhite. Out of the seventeen graduating there areonly nine students who started out in the first grade. They include: Lynn Arnett, Nancy Ellett,Jeanette Goble, Hilda Headdy, Bonnie Hughes, Jim Prather, Faye Peterson, Nadine Smith, andLinda Wilhite.We have enjoyed our senior year very much. We shall leave school wondering where our pathsof life may lead.
