Description:	■Each year the Smithville BetaClub sends delegates and a sponsorto the State Beta Convention. Janet ONeal, Marlene D ec ka rd,Blaine Allen, and Robbin Sowder,with Mrs. Wilma Wisley as sponsor,represented our club this year. Allmeetings and activities were heldin the Severin Hotel in Indianapolls. Marlene and Robbin servedas marshals, along with three otherboys and girls from the RiverdaleBeta Club.A long to be rememberedevent of the convention was theAs we travel through life,there are many doors that must beunlocked. In our early years thesedoors are unlocked for us by ourparents. But when we enter school,we are taught to unlock an increasing number for ourselves. We aretaught many skills, such as reading and reasoning, which are thekeys to the locks for all the doorsthat lead to maturity. Now thatwe are high school students, andBeta Club members, we have discovered there are four keys thatwill unlock almost any door wemay wish to enter. They are notthe exclusive property of the members of the Beta Club; any studentmay possess them. The keys areAchievement, Character, Leadership, and Service.banquet and Beta ball held in theRoof Ballroom of the hotel.
