Box 1787bloomington, inspring 2002Meaningless InformationIn the information age people are putting more &more credence in what I would call MeaninglessInformation. My brain is only so big—-I cant knoweverything! I personally dont care how manypeople are injured each year by toilet seats or thatBetsy Ross had three nipples. Some people may findthat meaningful but for me, its psychologicalclutter like seeing my brother on his first birthdaywalking around with a pretzel, a spoon, and aconfused look on his face. For every new piece of Meaningless Informationthat I learn, a piece of valuable information leaves. So, while some people are stuck trying to find outeverything, I say, give up already! Youll never beable to know everything, and some things are justMeaningless Information that youll never need! But wait a minute, now that I think about it, mybrother with a spoon & pretzel is cool--it carries allkinds of meaning for me. Maybe there really is nosuch thing as Meaningless Information after all!Everything has meaning to someone. In fact, youmight learn something very useful and interesting. For example, the populatin of Arkansas in 1880 was802, 525 people. I guess Im really just trying to say:One can acquire everything in solitude—exceptcharacter.—Kabara |
