To my dear FriendsTTze two Qreat Mysteriesof my life6yJim Bakkerat Harmony School,This is the fourth year you have invited me to participate inyour unconventional, extraordinary, and uniquely creativeyearbook.Im writing to you from a little farm in the hills of NorthCarolina, and not from a prison cell as has been the case thelast three years. I will never forget those who reached out tome during my imprisonment and gave me a sense of self worth.Perhaps someday I can thank you in person, but, until then, thanks for your kindness from the bottom of my heart. The mystery theme of this years book has me intrigued and Iminterested to see how each of you handles the Great Mystery ofLife. The greatest true life mystery I was ever a part of happened tome as a little boy. One night, I was awakened by a loudthunderous sound. I was petrified as the sound came from insideour house. As I lay paralyzed with fear, I could hear the sirensof many police cars. As I got up enough courage to look out thewindow, I saw them, with their red lights flashing, one by onepull up to my house.Quickly, I put on my clothes and made my way downstairs. Thepolice had taped off our front yard and were busily looking forclues. They dusted for fingerprints and found a pair of shoes onour front porch that did not belong to anyone in our family. Myheart was beating with excitement as my friends began to come tomy house to see what was happening. Each bit of information I could glean I shared with my playmates.I had learned that the great thunderous noise was made by myfather, chasing an intruder from his second floor bedroom, andboth of them tumbling down the staircase which was located rightnext to the wall adjoining my bedroom. The police put all theclues together and were able to catch the infamous barefootburglar, who had been robbing numerous homes in our town. Thenewspaper had named him that because he always took off his shoesso he could quietly creep into peoples homes in the middle ofthe night. |
