But I still ask, How did this button getthere? Then like most things you puzzle over toolong,It came to me in a flash and I knew it wasnt wrong:I heard how in school some kids fall through the cracksYes, thats it and the button must havepopped off his slacks! While he slipped without notice into the great deep abyss,All we are left with as a reminder is simplythis:Theres a button stuck in the floor of myschool, oh dearTheres a button stuck in the floor of my school.{Note: Button is located in front of locker 32 in upstairshallway, is white with two holes and appears to havebeen placed when the original floor was poured.)7—My FaithI approach my faith with sort of a dilettantish sentiment.Growing up in a household of God I learned surprisinglylittle. I read the Bible to feed my own curiosity and thequestions of curious others. Still I only know a little aboutmy own religion and even less about other branches ofChristianity.I grew up on a seminary campus. My father worked in thecampus financial aid office. From the day I was bom I wassurrounded by opinionated pastors-to-be. Yet religion waslittle part of my life. Then again, you wouldnt reallyexpect a four year old to be reciting chapters from theBible. Or would you?I have not really had time to find myself in God. If there isany finding to be done. As I have said, I was brought up in aChristian household. Perhaps I have always been toonaive to question whether or not there was a God. It justalways sounded like a pretty good thing to me. To berewarded for love is quite tempting. Thousands uponthousands break the law everyday to be rewarded forgiving people they dont even know their love. Of course asall things love can be taken to an extreme.-Beth/988--PopularityI always thought that being popular must be like living inheaven. I mean, you dont have to do anything to makepeople think youre cool. Simply do whatever you want. Ienvied those who were cool and always looked nice. Ithought, Why cant I be like them?Since I moved here though, Ive been wondering ifpopularity is worth it. Im not even sure I know what it isanymore. People seem to have very different opinions ofwhat popularity means. It differs from person to person, from country to country. |
