Description: Conclusion:In the Pop Culture Marketplace of late 20th century America, where styleoverpowers substance, and perception equates to reality, Vonneguts pointthat We are what we pretend to be, so we must be very careful about whatwe pretend to be/ speaks volumes. It is the fantasy of television, movies, advertising, that has defined our age. It is an age where one exercises theirautonomy by choosing what particular fantasy or fantasies to partake of—Nike, Airwalks, Geritol, etc. This is what our humble yearbook is about—stepping into the unreality of promotion (advertising) and making it areflection of oneself. We bring it to you with a bit of caution, a bit of fun, andhopefully a bit of insight into what makes us all tick.Wed like to acknowledge the fine work of students who went far and beyondthe call of duty. First, Emmy Blackwell, who ends her stint as leadphotographer—youre a tough act to follow. Hannah Dumes, Claire Morton,In closing, wed like to say, save your money.236Beth Freyman, and especially Zeri Ryerson, you four handled layout withinfinite patience on finite time. Riley and Summer—without you therewouldnt be a book. Grace, you made the editorial decisions & plotted thebooks course beautifully. Flora & Sona, you two did a bit of everything, anddid it well. Rudy, Tansy, Avery & especially Ruby—you hung in there dayafter day and did whatever had to be done. Robin, thanks for showing us thesecrets to the scanner. Andy, Tim, both Justins, and Josh-well, youre toblame for the Gizzzard. Claire, your subliminal messages are smashing. Andto the students and teachers who sweated over their individual pages—weappreciate your anxiety. And last but not least, Caroline Nash, who steppedin at the end when everyone was exhausted and managed to pull it alltogether.* -
