Each of thesixty-five members received individual lessons. On New Years Day, 1941, the bandmade its first appearance at the Spencer-Ellettsville game. On September 3, 1942,the band went to the State Fair, where itAvon third place for its playing and marching, although it competed with experiencedbands. It has played at all home ball gamesand has filled engagements to play at commencements in Monroe County, at patrioticprograms in Monroe, Brown and GreeneCounties. This year the band was invited toplay for the State Trustees Convention heldin the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis. Thisis one of the highlights in the history of ourband. Five members will graduate this year.
