Description: LLAMARADA * * * * * * * *Sunshine SueThe school sponsored a show by Sunshine Sue at the local school the nightof October 3. This show was for the benefit of the school. The money was usedto help pay for films used by the school for visual education. The show was attended by a large crowd and enjoyed by all.An Amateur Contest was held by Sunshine Sue and several people took part.Four of the Sophomore girls—Irene Miller, Wilma Paschal, Faye Libkie andSarah Chloe Hazel, won the contest and had the chance to broadcast from stationWHAS the following Saturday morning.Senior PartyThe Senior class was entertained by a weiner roast at the home of JuanitaKing the night of October 5. Games were played and enjoyed by all.Seniors Take a TripNovember 8, the Senior Civics class and Miss Williams, their teacher,went to Indianapolis to visit points of interest. They visited the State House,State Museum, the State Library, World War Memorial, and the Art Institute.They were shown around the Library by a guide, who explained all the things ofinterest to them.Freshman InitiationsOn the night of November 9, the Sophomore class initiated the Freshmanclass. The Freshmen were blindfolded and were fed worms from a tin can. Fromthere they were seated in an electric chair and were given a shock of electricity.Games were played and enjoyed by all. Refreshments of sandwiches and hot cocoa were served.Hoosier String BustersThe Hoosier String Busters, former WHAS broadcasters, performed forus one night of December, 1939. This show was also put on by the school. Thereceipts were used to pay for films for visual education.Jimmie TrimbleOn December 8, the Seniors sponsored a show given by Jimmie Trimble,the famous magician of Terre Haute. The show was two hours long and enjoyedby all. Prizes of rabbits and gold fish were given to a few boys and girls whohelped him with his show.Washington-Lincoln ProgramThe school assembled in the old gym the afternoon of February 29 for aprogram in honor of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Slides wereshown on the topic. The Juniors and Seniors gave talks of the work of these twoo-reat men. The program was enjoyed by all and everyone benefitted by it.Page Thirty-seven
