LLAMARADA -ACTIVITIESDedication of GymThe dedication of the Ellettsville High School Gym was held on Saturday night, November 7, 1936.The first game of the season was played with Helmsburg. TheEllettsville second team won over their second team.At the half of the first team game, the dedication speech was givenby Vern Ruble of Bloomington. Mr. Ruble gave a very interesting talk.The rest of the game was played, the result a victory for Ellettsville.The Bloomington High School Band was present at this event andplayed a number of selections, including high school songs. The program was attended by a large crowd.Junior Class PlayThe Juniors entertained us with a play called Professor Pepp, onThursday, November 5, 1936. The play was sponsored by Mr. Boyd, theclass sponsor. The characters were as follows: Alexander Muir, EthelMiller, Bertrice Lawhead, Wallace Freeman, Wayne Gorham, June Mid-dleton, Ercell Fender, Martha Jean Byers, Dorothy Jackson, Maryl Peregrine, Mary Alice Eads, Paul Hinton, Albert Burch, Herman Brinson,Wynn Patton, Wayne Hall, Maurice Stines, and Opal Stansbury.High School Music Class OperettaThe High School Music Class, sponsored by Miss Mildred Reeves,presented an operetta, Ask the Professor, November 27, 1936, in theEllettsville gym. The characters were as follows: Mary KatherineWinkler, Leland Engledow, Hilda Knight, Garnet Truesdel, Fred Crum,Betty Curry, Mervin Figg, Forrest Freeman, Naomi Breeden, Ruth Hazel,and Mamie Oliver.Initiation of FreshmenThe initiation of the Freshmen was held on Friday night, October16, 1936, by the Sophomores. This party was held in place of the regularrough initiation held by the entire school. Everyone reported having agood time. Refreshments of sandwiches and doughnuts were served.39 |
