The Gay Nineties was the thane of thereception. As each person entered the swinging doors of Diamond Jim Bradys Tavern,he was given a small favor. The girls received dance programs and the boys receivedhandle bar moustaches which they were supposed to Wear. The menu and also theprogram were written in Gay Nineties style. Captain (Carl Dillman) Jinks gave thewelcome and Col. Billy Boy (Ed Hudson) gave the response. There were several solonumbers by members of the class of 1|9» Ruby Angelina Ryan was toastmistress.After the banquet the Juniors and Seniors and guests danced to the music of BernieVance and his orchestra until midnight. Cookies and punch were served during thedance.JUNIOR PLAYThe Juniors presented their first class play, The Sweetheart of U Baka Pi,Mon October 30 and 31. This was a three-act comedy of college life. The main plotof the story was connected with po» lil pledges of the U Baka Pi Sorority arid theSic Em Fido Fraternity, and also the famed Kitchen Queen who could cook betterthan anyone in the country that is, so everyone thought. She had grown tired of thetitle and started to college with her best friend playing the part of the KitchenQueen. Some of the things that happened to the two girls were hilarious.JUNIOR PLAYThe second play given by the Juniors was on March 10 and 11. The name of thisplay was Murdered Alive, a suspense-filled mystery.SINGING BILL FROM BLUE RIDGE HILLSinging Bill from Blue Ridge Hill was presented by the senior class on April8 and 9.59■ |
