LEADERSEllettsville has often been called basketball crazy and from all the yellingand cheering done at one of our basketball games, one might think that this adjectivehad been appropriately chosen* To the Ellettsville basketball fans yelling is anessential part of the game. It is their way of expressing their moral support tothe boys on the floor and of telling the opposing team that our team is goingto win* Some people think that by yelling, those people leading the yells are theonly ones that benefit. That is a false statement* That team that everyone wantsto see win so badly is really the one gets the benefit from the cheers that theyell section puts out* Those guys in the black and gold suits depend on cheers toboost their moral*This year the yell leaders were Mary Sue Halstead, Rosemary McKinney, Joe Stephenson, and Morris Hazel* Mary Sue, a senior, was yell leader last year with RubyDeWar and Phyllis Justis* Rosemary, also senior, was new this year as were the boysJoe and Morris, juniors* Our yell leaders have put all they had into their yells, and the end of the game has found them nearly as tired as the basketball boys themselves*52 |
