vJn August 30th, sophomore AustinHaskett left everyone in the dust during the CrossCountry Mustang Invitational. The Mustangscompeted against other schools, and Haskettcame racing into first place. Hasketts friend andfro-bro, senior Alex Michael, followed rightbehind him and finished an amazing secondplace.Although Haskett placed first in this meet,this is not his only achievement. He has placedfirst in the 11th Hour, Owen Valley, and CrawfordCounty meets. He was named the 2016 MonroeCounty Cross Country champion.The biggest thing I have accomplished thisyear so far is breaking 16 minutes, and Im most)roud of being one of the top caliber runners inre a qoivbeatwte/fcawthe state, Haskett said.The entire team, both boys and girls, haveshared plenty of time together over meals andbonded together inside and outside of school. M\favorite thing about cross country is how close ware on both sides of the team, Haskett said.To maintain his endurance, Haskett said heruns every single day of the week, and to staymotivated he relies on his mom, and coach, to pushim everyday. He trains every day, and he sayshes going to be the best runner he can be, and hedoes whatever he can to help him get there,Hasketts mom, Elicia, said.My advice for everyone is to keep workinghard to get where you want to go, Haskett said. |
