Thegunmen went into the school withno intentions to hold back. 17-year-old Rachel Scott was the firstperson to get shot and killed.Rachel had a dream to leave alasting impact and to change allthe negativity in the world.Edgewood HighSchool learnedabout this tragedywhen speaker KristiKrings spoke on thechallenge Rachelhas for the world.Krings came toEdgewood and gavethe school one of themost emotional convocations it hasever seen. The convocation spoketo many Edgewood students. Itmade them think.If I could change the world inone way it would be that therewould be no more animal or childabuse, sophomore Brittanie Dikesaid.Rachel wrote different things inher journal that she hoped wouldhappen one day. Rachelschallenge is a list of some of thethings she wanted. Rachel wantedto help kids find a way to make adifference in the world and in theirschools. She focused on findingthe positive in all situationsand trying to eliminate asmuch negativity aspossible.Rachels challenge justmakes you think aboutothers. Just take a secondand be considerate. Its notthat difficult to go out ofyour way to make someoneelse have a better day,senior ShaniaDavis said.After themainconvocation,students hadthe opportunityto sign up fortraining. EHSallowed 100students to join the club.The training helped promote the club andgave students confidence in speaking toothers. Some students were able to getup and talk in front of all the students atRachels training. Dike and junior DestinyFerguson stood up on stage and toldtheir story.The biggest dream for me toaccomplish is to not be forgotten,Ferguson said.44The biggest dream forme to accomplish is tonot be forgotten.1.
