96 Yards to VictoryA journey of a thousand miles beginswith a single step. For sophomore NoahWhite, the journey toward a spot on varsitystarted with hard work and one singlemoment of greatness.Whites biggest highlight of the yearwas most certainly recovering a fumbleagainst West Vigo and taking it to the housefor a touchdown.Once I picked up that ball, all I sawwas the endzone. I knew the crowd wasgetting louder by the yard. I just had tofocus on reaching that endzoneand 96 yards later, I wasthere, White said. That play not onlyresulted in a touchdown, itillustrated the journey ayounger player takes to earn aspot on varsity.JV is a developmental time. People getto show what they are made out of and workhard. Noah is an example of a young studenttaking the next steps into being a varsityfootball player, Coach Winkler said.(?)I just had tofocus on reachingthat endzone and96 yards later, Iwas there.2Teams Form I FamilyFreshmen got the opportunity to step it up andshow their skills with the JV team.I really like playing with the JV team because itmakes you have to keep up with them and work evenharder than we already do, freshman Matt Clemenssaid.Even JV had to change their routine and allowfreshmen tp play so they wouldnt feel overwhelmed.Combining the freshman and JV team made theirteam stronger as a whole.I like having the freshmen on our team this year.It gives us more people to work with and we have alarger team now. Sometimes the freshmen can get inthe way because we already know things from theprevious year, but for the most part its nice having abigger team, sophomore Alex Pittsford said.for theRECORDJV FootballHead Coach: Mr. WinklerIndian Creek 8-28Owen Valley 14-0Sullivan 24-WestVigo 14Cascade 26-£rown County.♦CORD......4WIC RECORD.. 2-1 |
