Added toBusiness Dept.Classroom study was combined with actual onthe job experience when a select number ofseniors were chosen to participate in the Distributive Education program, a new addition to thebusiness department. Leaving at noon, these selected few drove off to their respective jobs in thesurrounding areas.Edgewoods beginning typists found that learning the keyboard is not a difficult task; its learning to type it correctly without peeking at thekeys that presents the problem. What first appeared as chicken tracks turned into meaningfulwords as shorthand students became more adeptat reading them. Figures and ten cent column mistakes frustrated many bookkeeping students, whilethose who mastered the skills advanced to calculators, dictaphones, and transcribing machines insecretarial practice.Bookkeeping skills take much time and patience.Concentration during a timed writing is very important in typing.26
