Thats exactly what the Edgewood rugby teamaccomplished this year. First-year head coaches MasieDuncan and Haley Katz said a core group of players andtheir accomplishments helped pave a path of success forfuture teams at Edgewood. Nick Wright scored the teamsfirst try of the season in a matchup with Fishers. A try ishow a team scores points in rugby. In addition to Wright,Damon Rogers scored two tries this season. He was avery strong player and a strong leader as well. Damon wasan active captain this year for the team. He had a lot ofresponsibility and has grown immensely as a player, Head Coach Masie Duncan said. Isaiah Jacksonstepped up for the team and was often a topic of discussion after games. He played full back and mademany impressive tackles. He was always a player that was talked about after the game because everyoneloved watching him hit the other teams players hard, Duncan said. Despite having new coaches andlimited numbers, the team showed its true strength throughout the year. The team had a lot of heart. Theyalways gave 100% and never gave up. Their work ethic was outstanding, Duncan said. The rugby team atEHS is certainly a program on the rise. We are always looking for new players to build onto the core teamwe created this year, Duncan said. Other rugby teams should be worried because the Edgewood rugbyteam is going to put up a huge fight.On the left, teams arestarting a scrum whileon the right, they areending one.
