They had highhopes of doing better than their past year, a team that went 5-20. The Mustangs morethan doubled last years record, going IO-I5 during the regular season. The Mustangsstarted off fheir season 5-12. before winning seven of their last IO season games. TheMustangs traveled to Vfncennes, to play the #4 ranked Alices. After a great start.Mustang errors plagued them once more, losing IO-3. Player injuries were some of theadversities that they were going to face throughout the rest of the year. The Mustangsbeat one of the top teams in 2A. Linton, very soundly. That changed the momentumof our team. Coach Bob Jones stated, after that win. we seemed to pull together asa team, and we knew we had a job to do. win sectionals. And that is what they did.the Mustangs went to West Terre Haute and thumped on Owen Valley 16-4. and wasnow faced to play the #9 ranked team in 3A. West Vigo. Edgewood took a lead l-O.before Scott Pedersen was walked. Mate Ellett blasted a home run over the centerfield wall. The Mustangs finished their mission, beating Greencastle in the final. 8-5. Afterthe celebration began, the Mustangs got the welcome home with firetrucks and policecars, lining the streets to greet their Sectional Champs. The Mustangs then traveled toBrebeuf Jesuit, where the road to the state championship ended. Even though we lost,look at how much we accomplished this year, that has to say something about this groupof guys. Coach Jones said about losing fn Regionals.
