Chess Provokes Concentration — Provides EntertainmentThe Chess Club looks on as Chauncey and Walter concentrate on their next moves.Gee, a bishop for a pawn!The bishop and knight movements were plottedduring the year by the sponsor of the chess club, Mr.Tatum. During the sixth period on Friday the onlynoises coming from room 117 were hum andcheckmate. The twenty-seven members of theclub vie for individual honors during the year. Chess,one of the older and more thought provoking games,requires a nimble mind and deep concentration.Chess enables the student to challenge his mind andat the same time, relax in a quiet setting. The onlyprerequisite for becoming a member of the chessclub is a desire to play chess. |
