By theend of the conditioning program, teammembers were running up to twice aday. (Coach) Ennis worked us hard buthe wasnt bad, said James Gillie.Amy Ramsey agreed. I thought theconditioning was not too hard and nottoo easy, she added.Coach Ennis, on the other hand, thought a little differently. I thoughtI was pretty strict, said Ennis. I rodemy bike behind the kids to be sure theywerent loafing on our runs. One problem team members oftenfaced during conditioning was gettingsick and vomiting while running. Another problem was simply that peoplewerent in top shape and therefore, hadtrouble breathing. At the end of theseason Kyle Lindsey and Eric Scott gotso they could not even catch theirbreath, said Ennis. That really affected their performance when we ran. However, Ennis said he thought theteams learned that they were capable ofrunning eight miles a day, which boostedtheir confidence for their many meetsahead. s4
