Description: StrongPitching +Good Defense =Good YearT he Edgewood baseballteam rallied from losing4 of the first 5 games to win14 of the next 17. Strongpitching and good defensewon the big games for theDiamondmen. This is thefirst year that they have hada group of pitchers thatcould actually go with a rotation, starting pitcherswere Covey, Buher, Bell,Cain, Merrimom and Thomas, with Clouse coming in toclean up. Bell helped hisown cause with the bat. Hetied the 12 year old consecutive games with a hit at 13.Other big hitters wereClouse, Buher, C. Jackson.Senior Kevin Deford was aconsistent performer inright field making one spectacular catch after another.They played some prettygood ball the last half of theseason. According to thecoach, The team was funto coach and fun to watch.They beat some very goodteams this year but theywere beaten by a couple ofteams that were young andinexperienced. This yearsteam was young too. Theystarted for the most part 1sr., 7 jr., and 2 soph. Threeof those Juniors (Bell,Clouse, and Buher) were selected to the WCC All Conference team. The Mustangsfinished the conferencewith 9 won-loss record ofThis enabled the Mustangsto be co-conference champswith Danville.Clouse comes in home as theothers watch the action at 3rdbase.Rob Smith takes it easy on firstbase after he fires one past them.Jeff Covey watches as Ike Brinson eats dirt.Row 1: G.
