Edgewood studentsare required to take four years of social studies. These classes, from Civicsto Government and Economics, are allimportant to a students daily life. Byunderstanding the world aroundthem, students can better adapt to itafter graduation.After sitting at a desk for a fewhours students want to be active, andin Physical Education students aregiven this opportunity to exercisethis extra energy. After fifty-five minutes of playing basketball, volleyball,softball or other activities they areonce again ready to pay attention intheir last few classes.School news. Thats what the Hoofbeat is all about, but its much more thanthat. Its the heart and soul of studentlife. This fourteen member staff prepares our school newspaper with hardwork and determination. It is filled withEdgewood students opinions, sports,club events, editorials and much more.The Hoofbeat tells us about all the happenings in and around our school andcommunity.Each year students anxiously awaitfor the opportunity to play the famousQuiz Bowl in Mr. Chances class.Students are grouped into evenlypicked teams and they competeagainst each other by answering questions correctly. These questions aretaken from previous tests. While having fun, students are reviewing for thesemester final. The competitiongives them extra incentive to study,comments Mr. Chance. Students haveto study so their team has a chance towin extra credit points and they aregraded on participation in the QuizBowl. While watching their friendscompete students are also learningthe material.
