You immediatelyknow what is going to come out of theteachers mouth, Well, Jimmy it lookslike you are going to be spending sometime with me after school tomorrow.Yes, you guessed it, you have DETENTION!The next day, you wake up and afeeling of dread and doom follows youeverywhere you go. You cant even concentrate on your classes because youknow that after school you are going tospend a half hour with the teacher of yournightmares. After the last bell has rung, you walkthe last mile to meet your doom. Ofcourse, before doing this you have already written out your last will and testament. You take a deep breath, openthe door, and step inside (not knowing ifyou will ever be seen again.) Finally, aftera half hour of total boredom, its over.Hopefully this is the last time that youllever do this again. For student peace of mind, we havecompiled (from a very in-exact survey) alist of the teachers who give out, on theaverage, the most detentions each sixweeks. If you cannot avoid having theseteachers, approach their classes with extreme caution.1. Mr. Dodson. In his first year he hasclimbed straight to the top.2. Miss Briscoe. For its one, two, threestrikes, youre out! Out of school a halfhour later that is.3. Mr. Jones. He rounds out the seasonwith a fine third place finish.Honorable Mention: Mr. Brewer. Hereceives this acknowledgement not forgiving tardies, but for not giving them.Mr. Brewer says, I probably should givethem, but I often need the time afterschool to either confer with colleagues, simply to unwind, or to go home to let ourbabysitter leave. In all sincerity, thanks goes to thoseteachers who took time to fill out oursurvey and who allowed us to poke a littlefun at a serious side of school life.Jennifer Dye learns the hard way not to betardy to some classes.sophomores113 |
