Edgewood High School, El Corral, 1984, Page 120

Description: One descriptive adjective in particular cannot begin to describe thesensational production of Only an Orphan Girl by the faculty ofEdgewood High School. I think that it was the best play Ive everseen, commented Missy Cravens. This exceptional play not onlyprovided entertainment for the student body, but it also raised moneyfor the John Beckley Scholarship Fund. For several weeks before opening night, the cast spent many hoursafter school practicing lines, while the crew worked diligently on theprops and lighting. All of these individuals deserve a special thanks fortheir efforts. Gwenn Brown should especially be commended for bothdirecting and organizing this outstanding play. Edgewood is verylucky to possess such dedicated teachers that are willing to give upvaluable time and money to help raise funds for a scholarship. The facultys tireless efforts were quite evident when the curtain forthe opening performance was finally raised. Everything from thehandpainted scenery to the impressive costumes shimmered in themarvelous lighting. This magic realism was further induced by theDRUM-atic sound effects, and the soft musical accompaniment. Thefaculty was applauded repeatedly for their magnificent performance. One student even stated in awe, I didnt know our teacher could evenact! This fine theatrical presentation was enjoyed by everyone.Top Right: Dead MeatAbove: Where do you buy yourclothes?Center: The devil made me do it.Far right: Unhand that woman!120
