| Description: |
ON THE WAY UPIn the fall of 76 we climbed thesteep, winding drive to EdgewoodHigh School. Although familiar tomost of us, yet inviting to newcomers,Edgewood held the keys to opportunity, success and knowledge and yetthe possibilities of rejection and failure. We gained experience fromthose who were here to guide us. Wetried to make each moment an arrowwhich would travel toward knowledge—Edgewood 1976-77.With school enrollment havingreached 800 this year, class sizesranged from 4 to 38, except band andstudy hall. The wide variety andnumber of academic electives causedan overload in state required classeslike history, English, and biology, stated Mr. Carter, Guidance Director. We found ourselves on the wayup by accepting responsibilities associated with the prom, homecomingand athletics. The junior class officersand the prom committees dealt withbudgets and the Student Councilhomecoming committees found thatorganization was a huge factor. Reliability, winning and losing, and longhours of preparation developed asense of responsiblity towardsathletics.Although facilities were limited, wefound ourselves on the way upthrough academics. New faculty andadministration members brought newteaching techniques and policies toEdgewood High School.Like each of us, Edgewood HighSchool continued on the way up. |
