Description: Bus rides are important bonding time for thesoccer team before and after games,When athletes join a team, they do not think about busrides. Practices and gamescome first, and traveling toand from away games is adistant thought. Though itmay be true for many teamsthat bus rides are consideredunimportant, Souths femalesoccer players use this time tobond and prepare for theupcoming game.Pillows upon pillows andblankets wrapped aroundevery seat adorn the bus asthe athletes head off for theirgame. It is important for thegirls to relax and feelcomfortable with oneanother before the gamestarts, and the bus rides arethe perfect place to beginthis process. Most of the teamuses the time for napping andlistening to music, asurprisingly helpful pre-gameactivity. Senior Ellianna Hanellsaid, Sometimes we playgames on the bus, it makeseverything way less stressful. The bus rides would notbe possible without the busdrivers, who stay with theteam for the entireexperience. Many times, theteam does not arrive back atSouth until 11 on a schoolnight, and the athletes do notlet this go unnoticed. On theway back to South, the girlsalways show theirappreciation and sing:Thank you to our bus driverbus driver bus driver thankyou to our bus driver tordriving us home.
