Bloomington High School South, The Gothic, 2016, Page 157

Description: During the months of April and May, its uncommon to go a day without receiving an invitation to yet anothergraduation party, celebration or open house. No matter what its called, grad party season is fun, exciting, andexhausting. As a class of 2016 graduate, senior Cherise Otter was no stranger to the grad party scene. Myparty was on Saturday, right after the ceremony, but as soon as it was over I had to go to a lot more parties,Otter said. I think I made it to about six on Saturday. The set up and preparation for the parties can last for weeks. From flower arrangements to catering, gradparties can really get expensive. However, Otter said that she and her family recognized that these parties canoften get expensive and worked to put on a nice party, while keeping the cost to a reasonable level. My sisterand I helped to make the food, and we held the party at my house instead of renting out a building. We madethe decorations, and the prep work was really fun, Otter said. While making the rounds at grad parties, many attendees also navigated the gift giving etiquette. It canbe really tricky to figure out who to give a gift to, Otter said. After watching all of my older siblings graduate andgo to grad celebrations, I think I have it pretty figured out. I give a gift to my very close friends, the ones that I seeeveryday, Otter continued, and sometimes something little for people that you had a lot of classes with. But ifyoure just stopping by someones celebration, I dont think its a huge deal, its mostly just about celebratingeveryones accomplishments.Celebrating accomplishments was right for the senior class. Graduation was a culmination of all of the hardwork, late night study sessions and hours devoted to athletics or community service. For the past four years, thesenior class worked hard to benefit the BHSS and Bloomington communities, and now it was their time to shineand celebrate with graduation parties.EMILY ARVINStWentLlfe157*!
