[OFF]campus lifeSeniors Melanie Breeden and Ajay Sharma have been attending Campus Lifeactivities for the last few years alongside their friends. This year brought many newunderclass members and participation spiked.For many years, Campus Life, a religion-basedcommunity organization, has brought young adults andchildren together to participate in fun and engagingactivities. Bloomington South students in particular arevery involved in Campus Life, going on trips, playinggames, learning and bonding over similar views. Whilethe club is now very popular among South students ofall ages, it wasnt always such a big group; it has growna lot in the last few years, including more members andtherefore bigger and more successful events.Senior Ajay Sharma joined Campus Life twoyears ago because of encouragement and praise thathe heard from his friends. It started when a bunch offriends invited me to come to a meeting, but I veryquickly fell in love with the crazy games and the familylike bonding between students and teachers, Sharmasaid. According to Sharma, the trips, among otherthings, were different than they were last year due tothe growth of the club, including more students from allgrades and all friend groups. My junior year, there wasan average of around 20 kids at each meeting,Sharma said. Now, there are around 60 to 80regulars. Sharma also explained that this change inmembers and popularity resulted in a ton of energybouncing around at each gathering.I very quickly fell inlove with the crazy,games and the familylike bonding.146- senior Ajay SharmaMelanie Breeden, another senior involved in CampusLife, joined the club as a sophomore. Breeden als<noticed a change in the number of attendees at eaclmeeting throughout the last few years. When I firsstarted going, there were so few people that we could fiinto one of the upstairs rooms at the Warehouse,Breeden said. Now, we have so many people eaclweek that we have to meet on the first floor in a bijroom with a stage. Breeden explained that eaclmeeting consists of lots of games, which can get prettcrazy, along with chatting about different topics ancwatching videos about them. While there are mancomponents of Campus Lifes activities ancopportunities, it is clear that Campus Life members lovithe group mentality and the activities that they d|together, including a huge paint war Breeden describeeas really crazy and super fun.- ELLA NEEI |
