On May 20th, the nine fastest drivers were locked into the FastNine Shootout for the pole on Sunday evening. The Fast Nine determines the poleposition at the Indy 500. On Sunday, May 21st, the remaining 24 drivers requalifiedfor spots throughout the afternoon. Among the qualifying drivers was FernandoAlonso, who set an average of 231.300mph on his four lap qualifying run. Alonsoraced alongside last years grand champion, Alexander Rossi, who placed fourth.PHOTO COURTESY OF CREATIVE COMMONSQualifying is important because itdefines where you are on the pole. Ifyoure number one, you will start therace in first position which is a goodstarting lead. I think Alonso mightwin. You never really know who willbe the winner until race day, though.JUNIOR ADIA SHIELDS0S>0CNC< ww Ht/\LTtfCAREWW CMS CcWjS1DYING FOR SOME JUSTICEThe Die-in was a peaceful protest regarding the attemptedappeal of Obama Care.
