August 17, 2016 marked thefirst time women were able to play golf in theOlympics since the 1900 Paris Olympics, sincewomens individual was not an event in 1904. StacyLewis, Gerina Piller, and Lexi Thompson were sent torepresent the U.S. Golf will also be featured as anevent in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.I think its really cool becausegolf is important to me. Nowthat its included, [golf] will gainpopularity and more people willwatch it.SOPHOMORECAROLINECONRADIts kind of confusing why golfwas taken out of the Olympics.There are a lot of [golf] events,so many that its surprising howit wouldnt be in the Olympicsconsidering its a popular sportand many people play it.JUNIOR CARLIEWILLIAMSleading spots on the team next year. Duncan knows shewill face challenges, but she is very excited to be a leader tothe underclassmen throughout the upcoming season.Overall, Beggs and Quinn had an unforgettableseason. In fact, these seniors had a wonderful four-yearhigh school golf career both on and off the course.Whether it was Coach Carvers life advice or the saying nocrying in golf, the seniors will always cherish their timeon the team. Although they will move on, the juniors onthe team, such as Duncan, are ready to fill theirpredecessors shoes.- AMARAE CAMPBELLI.
