Description: a dream setfnThe Bloomington South Sectional champions dominate the court with their seniorleadership and teamwork. With a team full of seniors to lead the way, there is no stopping the Panthers fromdominating the basketball court. Bloomington High School Souths boys basketballteam made a name for themselves this year - a long season of upperclassmen guidanceculminated in a 57-42 win over Bloomington High School North on March 7. With eightseniors to guide the younger players, the team learned how to work together. Theircoach, John Holmes, said, the chemistry between the boys on the court is great.Their 21-3 season record would not argue.Freshman Chance Coyle observed the leadership potential right away. Thesenior leadership is very valuable, Coyle said. Considering he is new to the startinglineup as a freshman on varsity, he needed the support from his upperclassmen. SeniorJohn Jager was an integral part of that system. Ive always tried to lead by example,Jager said. As a leader, you have to be the one that is always going hard in practice, taking no plays off, giving everything you have 110 percent of the time. This yearsteam worked well together, largely due to the fact that most of them have played witheach other for as long as they can remember. Senior Joshua Martindale reflected onhis past years playing basketball: Its nice to play with all the kids Ive grown up playingwith and/or against. We have all known each other for a long time, which makes thecommunication on the court really good. Martindale and Jager were at the top of theirgame and the team when the season ended. They, along with the team, realized teamchemistry was just as important as raw talent. We are all good friends and we knowhow each other plays on the court, Jager said. It really helps with our team chemistryand also the way we play together as a team. leaders.- MEGAN SHISHMANtheGo-To, .shotThese Panthers explained theirgo-to shot when they are intricky situations on the court.EThe 3-PointerIm not big enough toshoot inside, so I shootoutside.-senior Michael ConnerIThe Shot FakeIm a pretty good shooter so a lot ofpeople try to block my shot, so I usethe shot fake to get an easier shot.senior Taylor GilpinIHThe FloaterIts a shot that I can use indifferent situations.-senior Nicholas ElliottThe Hook ShotI feel like its the easiest shotfor me.-senior Logan Kirbyywork outWhat do you do for a cardio exercise?/ go to the YMCA three to fourtimes a week for about an hour.I usually do the elliptical, assisted pull-ups, and some ofthe different machines.
