PHOTO BYEMILY MOONThe Vidaurri-Rodgriguezfamily was nominated at the2013 Be More Awards onApril 2 for their outstandingvolunteer work at MotherHubbards Cupboard.On April 2, junior Daniela andsenior Carlos Vidaurri-Rodriguez were honored at theBuskirk-Chumley Theater asnominees in the Family categoryof Bloomingtons 2013 Be Moreawards, which recognizedoutstanding effort in local volunteerwork. In the students case, hardwork literally paid off: $500 wasdonated in the Vidaurri-Rodriguezs family name to MotherHubbards Cupboard, the localfood pantry where the familyvolunteers their time.Honored for both theirdedication and positive attitudeduring their eight years of service,the members of the Viduarri-Rodriguez family volunteered atMother Hubbards Cupboardregularly, either stacking the foodpantry or assisting on shoppingtrips to Hoosier Hills Food Bank.According to the Be More website,Their long-standing commitmentmakes a huge impact on thepeople served.Daniela, who believed in thebenefits of community service,encouraged other teenagers tovolunteer. It helps us see whatothers are going through, and howwe can help them, she said. Its agood cause, and it helps thecommunity.Daniela said she wouldcontinue volunteering in the future,and even expressed a desire tobranch out and spend more of hertime helping the community. Idlike to continue there, but I wouldalso like to try [working]somewhere else, Daniela said.While the family appreciatedthe Be More nomination, the truesatisfaction came from aidingothers.
