Description: Hard workkeeps spiritat SouthConvocations of the 1976-77school year were planned by a committee headed by Mr. Donald Abram,dean of students, and Mr. WilliamMilne, assistant principal.Generally the best response comesat the beginning of a season. If acoach decided he wanted to really gethis kids fired up for a certain game,we tried to work out a session, Mr.Milne explained. He felt the bandconvos were usually very successful;the kids always enjoyed those alot, he said.According to Mr. Milne, a bigdilemma faced by the planning committee was taking away from schooltime. Most students agreed that convos were a welcome break from routine school work.Exploratory teaching gave seniorsa chance to become familiar with various classroom situations. They gradedpapers, took attendance, tutored students, made displays and lessonplans, and taught subjects.The program, in its 10th year, wasdirected by Mrs. Bee Johnson, whohas been the supervisor for threeyears. Mrs. Johnson said, Theschools were really happy to have thestudents because they do such a goodjob.There were no prerequisites for thiscourse, but students had to be responsible and capable of doing a goodjob.A: Peter Biagioni enjoys working with hisexploratory teaching class.
